The Ingredient Only Works If It's Handled Right
Most commercial tallow goes through RBD processing: refined with chemical solvents, then deodorized at temperatures above 200°C. By the time it reaches a formula, much of what made it valuable is gone.

It sounds strange until you learn this: the word "sebum," the oil your skin naturally produces, literally means "tallow" in Latin. Tallow's fatty acid profile is the closest natural match to human skin lipids. Your skin already runs on this stuff. The whipped texture melts on contact and absorbs in seconds, no greasy film.

Most tallow you'll find is RBD, which stands for refined, bleached, and deodorized. That process strips out the nutrients that make tallow worth using in the first place. We source exclusively from Fatworks and Grass Roots Coop (100% grass-fed suet), render it low-and-slow ourselves, and make 30–45 jars per batch. Our threshold is simple: if it's not clean enough to cook with, it doesn't go on your skin. Over 100 rounds of formulation testing got us here.

Tallow is non-comedogenic. Because its lipid profile is so close to your own sebum, your skin absorbs it instead of sitting on top and blocking pores. The arrowroot powder in the formula also absorbs excess surface oil. A lot of our customers with acne-prone skin actually report fewer breakouts, not more.

Not at all. Tallow is a natural fat, so it can soften during warmer shipping. Pop it in the fridge for 15–30 minutes and it firms right back up. The formula and efficacy are completely unaffected.

A lot of our customers reach for it on skin that's stressed, reactive, or irritated, and they tell us it's the first thing that actually felt soothing instead of making it worse. Because the formula is anhydrous with no water, alcohol, synthetic fragrance, or preservatives, there's very little in it that can trigger a reaction. That said, everyone's skin is different. We always recommend doing a small patch test first, especially if your skin is currently inflamed.
