The Real Problem

Your Skin Isn't "Just Dry."
Your Barrier Is Breaking Down.

You've been told you have "dry skin." But dryness is the symptom, not the cause. The real issue? The structural lipid layer that holds your skin cells together produces less every year, and the decline keeps widening.

Think of your skin barrier as a brick wall. The bricks are your skin cells. The mortar between them, a precise matrix of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids, is what keeps moisture in and irritants out. Over time, that mortar thins. The decline is gradual, but the effects compound.

No amount of moisturizer on top can fix crumbling mortar underneath. You need the raw materials to rebuild the structure that holds moisture in.

The Paradigm Shift

Feed Your Skin. Don't Coat It.

Most moisturizers you've tried operate on the same model: coat the surface with finished ingredients and hope they help. There's a better way.

The Mechanism

The Kitchen & Chef

Your skin has a master chef with the recipe, the skill, and the process for rebuilding what your barrier needs. Given the right ingredients, it knows what to make and how to make it. It's been doing this your whole life.

But the pantry has been running low. Every year, your skin produces fewer of the raw materials it needs. Every conventional moisturizer you've tried has been delivering one ingredient when the recipe calls for three. Not something the chef can work with.

This tallow restocks the pantry with the real, raw ingredients the chef was trained to use.

Unearth Organics — Full Spectrum Whipped Tallow Cream with natural ingredients
So What's the Difference?

Two Ways. One Actually Rebuilds.

Now that you know the mechanism, here's why most products never engage it.

The Coating Model
  • Puts synthetic versions of ceramides on the surface. They sit there. They don't integrate.
  • 60–80% water, plus the preservatives needed to keep that water stable
  • Surface moisture that fades within hours
  • Treats dryness without addressing what's causing it
  • You reapply. Nothing underneath changes.
Your Skin's Approach
The Feeding Model
  • Delivers the same lipids your barrier is actually built from
  • 100% anhydrous. Zero water, zero preservatives. Every fraction is functional.
  • All three lipid classes your barrier needs: fatty acids, cholesterol, ceramide precursors
  • Restocks the raw materials so your skin can rebuild structure
  • Your skin does the work. The product delivers the supply line.

"Supports barrier function by delivering lipid precursors — not synthetic substitutes."

The Distinction That Changes Everything

Not All "Ceramides" Are Created Equal

You were right to care about ceramides. But there's a distinction most brands don't tell you about, and it changes everything.

Conventional "Ceramide" Creams Full Spectrum Tallow
What's in it Synthetic versions of ceramides. One lipid class. The real thing. Fatty acids, cholesterol, ceramide precursors. All three classes your barrier is built from.
Where it goes Sits on the surface Integrates into the lipid structure your skin is actually made of
What's around it 60–80% water, plus preservatives to keep it stable Zero water. Every fraction is functional lipids.
Over time Temporary moisture. Reapply tomorrow. Structure that compounds. Your skin gets the raw materials. It does the rest.

The Biocompatibility Factor

Your Skin Already Speaks This Language

The oil your skin naturally produces is called sebum. The word comes from Latin: sēbum, meaning tallow, grease, suet. The overlap isn't a coincidence. Tallow's fatty acid profile is closer to human sebum than any plant oil.

Your skin recognizes these lipids as native — not foreign. It's not adding something new. It's resupplying something your skin already runs on.

Soothing, cleared blackheads, smooth texture.

This cleared up my stress rash, AND it is clearing up my blackheads on my nose and chin. I was NOT expecting that. The dry patch on my foot is softening up too.

Radical Transparency

6 Ingredients. Nothing You Can't Pronounce.

Every ingredient is individually USDA organic certified. No water. No preservatives. No emulsifiers. No filler.

Showing: All base ingredients
Grass-fed tallow
Primary Emollient

Grass-Fed Beef Tallow

From Fatworks & Grass Roots Coop. 100% pasture-raised suet, non-RBD rendered. Delivers palmitic, stearic, and oleic acids plus naturally occurring cholesterol. The lipid foundation your barrier is built from. Also serves as the carrier for our botanical infusions, extracting fat-soluble compounds directly during the rendering process.

Coffee extract
Antioxidant

Organic Coffee Bean Oil

Rich in chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid, both potent antioxidants. Coffee compounds help neutralize free radicals on the skin's surface. Adds a warm, grounding scent.

Vanilla extract
Antioxidant

Organic Vanilla Oleoresin

Contains vanillin, a naturally occurring compound studied for its antioxidant properties. Adds a rich, familiar warmth to the scent profile without any synthetic fragrance.

Lavender essential oil
Calming Botanical

Organic Lavender Essential Oil

Linalool and linalyl acetate are the primary active compounds. Published research on lavender oil has found it supports skin conditioning and a sense of calm. Clean, familiar scent.

Eucalyptus essential oil
Clarifying Botanical

Organic Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Up to 90% eucalyptol (1,8-cineole), a well-studied compound. Published research on eucalyptus oil has found it has clarifying and invigorating properties for the skin. Clean, bright scent.

Hemp oil
Essential Fatty Acids

Organic Hemp Oil

Fills the one gap tallow leaves. Rich in omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids your skin can't produce on its own. Linoleic acid supports the acylceramide pathway. Absorbs cleanly without clogging pores.

Beeswax
Barrier Protector

Organic Beeswax

Semi-permeable occlusive that reduces water loss while letting skin breathe. Gives the whipped texture its structure.

Calendula
Botanical Support

Organic Calendula

Infused directly into the tallow, extracting fat-soluble carotenoids like beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Published research on calendula extract has found it supports the skin's own renewal processes and provides antioxidant protection.

Chamomile
Multi-Pathway Calming

Organic Chamomile

Infused directly into the tallow. The oil-soluble compounds that matter: alpha-bisabolol and chamazulene. Published research on chamomile has found these compounds comparable to low-dose hydrocortisone for skin comfort.

Arrowroot powder
Texture Modifier

Organic Arrowroot Powder

High-surface-area starch that absorbs excess oil. Eliminates the greasy residue typical of tallow products. Creates the cloud-soft, melt-on-contact finish.

Why Sourcing Matters

The Ingredient Only Works If It's Handled Right

Most commercial tallow goes through RBD processing: refined with chemical solvents, then deodorized at temperatures above 200°C. By the time it reaches a formula, much of what made it valuable is gone.

100% Grass-Fed, Grass-Finished

Diet changes the fat. Grass-fed cattle produce tallow with a different fatty acid profile than grain-fed. Higher in the specific lipids your barrier uses. Our suppliers are named and fully traceable.

Non-RBD, Low-Temperature Rendering

Never refined with chemical solvents. Never deodorized at high heat. Rendered low and slow to preserve the fatty acid structure that makes tallow valuable for skin. Nothing stripped.

Kitchen-Grade Threshold

If it isn't safe enough to be in your body, it isn't high-quality enough to be on your skin. Failed batches become cooking fat. That's the standard.

The Real Value

What's Actually in a $16 Moisturizer?

Most moisturizers are 60–80% water. The rest is preservatives to keep that water stable and a pump to get it out. You're paying for packaging and shelf stability, not what goes on your skin.

Questions & Answers

Everything You Need to Know

  • It sounds strange until you learn this: the word "sebum," the oil your skin naturally produces, literally means "tallow" in Latin. Tallow's fatty acid profile is the closest natural match to human skin lipids. Your skin already runs on this stuff. The whipped texture melts on contact and absorbs in seconds, no greasy film.

  • Most tallow you'll find is RBD, which stands for refined, bleached, and deodorized. That process strips out the nutrients that make tallow worth using in the first place. We source exclusively from Fatworks and Grass Roots Coop (100% grass-fed suet), render it low-and-slow ourselves, and make 30–45 jars per batch. Our threshold is simple: if it's not clean enough to cook with, it doesn't go on your skin. Over 100 rounds of formulation testing got us here.

  • Tallow is non-comedogenic. Because its lipid profile is so close to your own sebum, your skin absorbs it instead of sitting on top and blocking pores. The arrowroot powder in the formula also absorbs excess surface oil. A lot of our customers with acne-prone skin actually report fewer breakouts, not more.

  • About 2–3 months with daily use. Because the formula is 100% anhydrous (no water at all), it's extremely concentrated. You're using a fraction of what you'd need from a water-based moisturizer, so it goes a lot further than the jar size suggests.

  • Full refund within 30 days, processed in 3 business days, no questions asked. Our refund rate is under 1%, so we're not worried.

  • Yes. The Unscented variant was made with exactly that in mind. Every ingredient is USDA organic certified, with zero synthetic fragrances, preservatives, or irritants. Gentle enough for a baby, effective enough for you.

  • Not at all. Tallow is a natural fat, so it can soften during warmer shipping. Pop it in the fridge for 15–30 minutes and it firms right back up. The formula and efficacy are completely unaffected.

  • A lot of our customers reach for it on skin that's stressed, reactive, or irritated, and they tell us it's the first thing that actually felt soothing instead of making it worse. Because the formula is anhydrous with no water, alcohol, synthetic fragrance, or preservatives, there's very little in it that can trigger a reaction. That said, everyone's skin is different. We always recommend doing a small patch test first, especially if your skin is currently inflamed.
